OpenStack Networking: Software-Defined Networks in Cloud Environments

Abstract: In three short years OpenStack has come to dominate the industry for open source Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud offerings for both public and private clouds. This session provides a brief overview of the OpenStack and the history of Neutron Networking Services. The upcoming Havana release of OpenStack supports layer 4-7 services such as firewall and VPN as a service, virtual network overlays via VXLANs, SDN controllers and numerous vendor extensions. The session reviews OpenStack Networking and how Neutron relates to broader SDN initiatives illustrated through specific customer deployment scenarios.
