Fred Lima

Principal Network Security Architect





As Principal Network Security Architect, Fred is responsible for driving the architectural and strategic aspects of Network Security for eBay Inc. Previously, Fred was Chief Security Architect at Visa Inc., heading up the Security Architecture practice for Networks, Virtualization Infrastructure, and Private/Internal Cloud. At Visa, Fred was driving the Software-Defined Security and Next-Gen Data Center Security architecture programs which focused on threat-centric, software-driven, scale-out, boxless-focused, and distributed architectures for IaaS and PaaS deployments. At Visa, Fred also led Enterprise Architecture strategic initiatives for Visa’s Network Blueprint, and he also led network engineering teams responsible for designing and implementing the world’s most secure and largest retail electronic payments transactions IP network: Visanet. Prior to Visa, Fred held senior network and systems engineering roles in various companies. 

Within ONUG, Fred is a co-author and advocate of the “Software-Defined Security Services Framework”.

Fred holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the Universidade Catolica de Pernambuco – Brazil, in addition to an MBA degree from California State University, East Bay. He also holds CISSP, TOGAF, CISM, and CISA certifications.
