Yan Filyurin is a Bloomberg Network Scientist leading research and development efforts focussing on future network concepts, designs and products. His background is in merging, expanding and segregating networks in a a certain financial services setting, designing and prototyping satellite network architectures and occasionally working on a normal network or two. He is a veteran of many an abstract protocol discussion as well as an 18-hour troubleshooting call. His interests include complicating obvious answers, blurring the definitions of enterprise and service provider networking, network simulation and modeling and integration of network layers. He often collaborates with vendors, protocol developers and other network engineers. He is dedicated to the craft of networking and the its interactions with other disciplines to enable business. He graduated from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science concentrating in distributed computing.
